Sensei Silverman's Bio

Sensei Silverman was awarded the Academy of Masters 2009 TEACHER OF THE YEAR for his years of excellence training students at the University of Southern California (USC). He started his training in Dux Ryu as a graduate student at the University of Southern California and has been teaching Dux Ryu Ninjitsu (DRN) at USC for many years. Sensei Silverman also has the title Shidoshi, the highest honor within the system below Hanshi Frank Dux, as well as being the next Soke when Hanshi Dux retires. Over the years, he has studied with many other martial art systems, including wrestling, Brazilian jujitsu, traditional Jujitsu, Aikido, Kenjitsu, and Judo, but has stuck with DRN as the most well rounded and effective system.

Sensei Silverman grew up in the San Fernando Valley and has chosen that as the location of his school. Outside of martial arts, Sensei Silverman has a Ph.D. in engineering from UCLA and is a licensed civil engineer. He has taught at both UCLA and Berkeley, and lectured at CSUN and the Technion. He is also a PADI SCUBA diving IDC Staff Instructor, as well as a CPR/1st Aid instructor.
